To be considered for a Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship you must file for FAFSA and have received the SAR (Student Aid Report) that needs to be submitted with your application. Please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information on filing for federal student aid.
The Student Aid Report is the report you receive from the government after they process your FAFSA request. It will say “SAR for 2010-2011” in the upper left hand corner and list your EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) in the upper right hand corner. This document is usually 5 pages in length.
We will not accept a copy of your application information nor will we accept a copy of your submission confirmation. These are what you can print out right after you make application for FAFSA and only indicate your estimated EFC and that your FAFSA will be processed.
Your FAFSA usually processes in 3 to 4 days but can vary at peak times. You can check the status of your application by selecting Check Status of a Submitted FAFSA or Print Signature Page under the FAFSA Follow-Up section of the home page.
If you provided a valid e-mail address when you made application you will receive a notification e-mail with instructions on how to view your SAR online. You can print a copy by selecting View and Print Your Student Aid Report under the FAFSA Follow-Up section of the home page. This is the report that needs to be submitted with your scholarship application.
If you did not provide an e-mail address when you made application, you will be mailed a paper copy of your SAR.
Most school counselors as well as EducationQuest at www.educationquest.org can assist you with the FAFSA filing process free of charge.
