To be considered for a Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship, you must file for FAFSA and have received the Student Aid Report (SAR) that needs to be submitted with your application. Please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information on filing for federal student aid.
The Student Aid Report (SAR) is the report you receive from the government after they process your FAFSA request. Click here to view an example of a SAR.
We will NOT accept a copy of your application information, nor will we accept a copy of your submission confirmation. Click on the SAR example link above to view the correct form needed.
Your FAFSA usually processes in three to four days, but can vary at peak times. You can check the status of your application by selecting Check Status of a Submitted FAFSA or Print Signature Page under the FAFSA Follow-Up section on the FAFSA home page.
If you provided a valid e-mail address when you applied for financial aid, you will receive a notification e-mail with instructions on how to view your SAR online. You can print a copy by selecting View and Print Your Student Aid Report under the FAFSA Follow-Up section on the FAFSA home page. This is the report that needs to be submitted with your scholarship application.
If you did not provide an e-mail address when you applied for financial aid, you will be mailed a paper copy of your SAR. NOTE: This may extend the amount of time needed for the scholarship application process, so work far enough in advance to ensure you meet the application deadline of March 1, 2012.
Most school counselors as well as EducationQuest at www.educationquest.org, can assist you with the FAFSA filing process, free of charge.
